State Government Eye on Boost of North Bengal Tourism


North Bengal to get a new touch before the puja holidays. The State Government has put up plan to entice tourist to North Bengal and the plans are been initiated to surprise holiday makers, when they come to the region in the month of October, which is also a tourist season in the region. 

 
Ragvendra Singh, the state tourism secretary is presently touring the hills to stock the infrastructure that need renovation to put in a place. The recently formed task forces have already started their work to improve the infrastructure and properties to accommodate tourists. 

Ragvendra Singh said “We will come up with 30 Swiss cottages in Dooars and the hills. Renovation work of Morgan House, Tashiding and the Hill Top, properties owned by the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation in Kalimpong has started. We have already started our work and it will get over by the October. 

The new tourism task force created by the Mamta Banerjee will monitor the implementation of the tourism projects in North Bengal and for the new tourism projects. The task force is acting on a single platform for the promotion of tourism as all the officials or the almost all departments have been made members. 

Ragvendra Singh is the chairperson of the task force and other members of the team include forest and environmental secretary, land reforms commissioner and the DGHC administrator. 
The task force is working on the project to promote the adventurous tourism sports in the hills in the big way. Ragvendra Singh said, “We want to hold camps for angling, pitch tents from where rafting has started. 

To woo tourist in Doors, the government has already started the development projects and has started setting up tourism parks at Gojaldoba, Saili and Kunjanagar in the Dooars. Works are on progress to create new trekking routes and a watch towers is to be set in  Buxa Tiger Reserve for which a work has already started. 

Renovation work of the tourism properties at Tilabari, Murti, Madarihat and Betabari is also expected to start soon. “we plan to introduce new tourism package which would cover Darjeeling and Doors for the next tourism season. For the package, we are also working out on a number of activities for the visitors,” Said Ragvendra Singh.
