Named after the great Bengali freedom fighter Surya Sen,
Surya Sen Park is a spontaneous picnic spot facilitated with various kinds of
amusing activities for kids. It is positioned in Mahakal Pally at an expanse of
1 km from the main town of Siliguri in the Indian state of West Bengal.
The fun
and entertainment activities along with the luscious surrounding around which
the park is set up attracts large number of local tourists who visit this place
in the afternoon and evening to refresh and revitalize themselves.
The park houses a bust of the Bengali freedom fighter Surya
Sen in the middle which is one of the major attractions of the park besides
various eco friendly activities which are set with an aim to increase awareness
about alternative energy sources.
The park is festooned with verdant green
lands, imposing fountains with the astonishing hillocks of the higher lands of
Kurseong as the backdrop which makes it more attractive and appealing.

The view of the park in the evenings is truly astounding as
it is illuminated with vivid colour of lights which are lit all around the park
giving it a much brighter and sparkling look. Spending a couple hours of time

to explore the richness of this park besides viewing the mesmerizing view of

An exhibition on Alternative Source of Energy is organized by
the WBREDA inside the park for the well sake of the society.
Note: The Park remains open from 9:00 am to
8:00 pm and is open on all days.
Best time to Visit: The best time to visit Siliguri is
from the month of October to March as the climatic conditions remains pleasant
and enjoyable.

distance from the main town, there are lots of luxurious and budget hotels
around the park which are all adorned with required facilities for a
comfortable stay. Some of the nearest hotels to this park are Hotel Lifestyle
(300 meters), Hotel Saluja Residency (1 km), Hotel Central Plaza (1.5 km) and
Hotel Sinclairs (3 km).
How to Reach: Once you reach the main town of
Siliguri, you can hire a rickshaw or auto to reach this park. If you are coming
from the Hill Cart Road then you have to stop in the Mahananda Bridge and walk
down the steps. Bagdogra Airport (16 km) and New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (14
km) are the nearest airport and train station to Siliguri.
