Bomdila is a quaint town which is situated in the West
Kameng district of the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. The town is
beautifully placed at a height of about 2,217 m above sea level and it is very
much for the Buddhist monasteries and apple orchards.
During the early times, the place fell under the rule of
Tibetan kingdom and it was ruled by the local tribal rulers of Bhutan. At
present, the inhabitants of this town mainly comprises of the Monpa and
Sherdukpen tribes. These tribal people speak various languages like Monpa,
Sherdukpen, Assamese, Aka, Hindi and English. Some of the specialties of this
place are its striking handicrafts, paintings, colourful masks and dragon
carpets.

of the region and is considered as a significant festival of Bomdila.
Nechidow Festival
This festival is celebrated by the Aka tribe of the
place. The event is celebrated in the month of January and it lasts for four
days. During the festival, the natives of the place offer prayers and perform
various rituals. The chief highlights of this festival are the traditional
songs and dances that are performed by the natives of this place.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Bomdila is between the months of
April to October, as during this time of the year the place experiences
pleasant climate.

bus and taxi services are available from the Tezpur airport and Kolkata airport
to Bomdila.
By Rail: The nearest railway station to the
town is in Tezpur, located at a distance of about 180 km. Frequent bus services
are available from this station to Bomdila. One can also opt to hire private
taxis outside the station in order to reach the place.
By Road: The town is easily accessible through
road by regular bus services from Tezpur (147 km) and Itanagar (241 km). The
