Popularly
reffered as the ‘Queen of the Hills’, Darjeeling is a beautiful hill station
located in the Indian state of West Bengal and positioned at a distance of 77
km form Siliguri. If you are planning to visit Darjeeling during this festive

fascinate you with its exotic beauty, some of the most famed and must visit are
described below.
Tiger Hill: The view rising of the sun
as it gradually changes its colour on the tip of mountain Kanchenjunga (world’s
3rd highest) and greet you for the morning is awe-inspiring. One can
also get a view of Mt. Everest if lucky enough or in a sunny day. The view of
five mountains in the Kanchenjunga region are truly mesmerizing and heart
touching.
Happy Valley Tea Estate: The integrated tea gardens
which carpet the lands of this valley with lush tea bushes are magnificent. A
natural walk in and around this tea garden amalgamates with the chilly breeze
that flows by to give you and your partner a worthy and truly romantic time to
spend.
Lloyd Botanical Garden: Located in a walking
distance form main town, it is one of the perfect places to visit in the
evening. It was named after Mr. William Lloyd who built it in 1878. Located at
an altitude of 1800 meters and stretched with an area of 40 acres large
collections of floras can be seen in this place. It is popular for its
collection of orchids in the orchid house.
Ghoom Monastery: Also known as,
Yogachoeling Gompa it was established in the year 1875 and is located at a
distance of 8 km from the south of main town in a place called Ghoom. It is a
store house to some rare Buddhist manuscripts and is an ideal sop for people
searching for tranquility and stillness.
Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park: Standing tall at an
elevation of 2134 meters above sea level and stretching at a vast area of 68
acres, it has a collection of rare species of Himalayan animals including
endangered red panda, Siberian Tiger, Tibetan Wolf, snow leopard etc. Inside
the park, there is an office of HMI (Himalayan Mountaineering Institute) and
Museum which has wide collections of instruments used by first mountaineers to
scale the height of Mt. Everest Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary.
Batasia Loop: Another interesting spot
to visit while on a Darjeeling tour. Located just 2 km below Ghoom aside the
main NH 55A, Batasia Loop captivates tourists attraction with its lush green
park and the relishing view of the mountain ranges including panoramic view of
Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain peak in the world. It is also a
engineering marvel existing at such a height where tourist can enjoy the view
of Darjeeling Toy Train bending to almost 360 degrees touching the head with
its tail.
