Manas National Park –Pristine Wildlife Located at the Foot hills of the Himalayas

Located at the foothills of the Himalayas Manas National Park also a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the best in the world compared to the landscape.  The sanctuary is just at a distance of 176 kms from Guwahati in Assam and is a Project Tiger Reserve, Elephant Reserve and also a Bio-sphere reserve in Assam.

The National Park is well known for providing shelter and atmosphere for various epidemic wildlife animals like Hispid Hare, Golden Langur, Pygmy Hog and Assam Roofed Turtle. Within the 950 sq kms, the national park is also home to various other species of birds and animals and no wonder, if you are here for a safari or tour, you are going to have glimpse of them in various corner of this National Park.

Quick Fact
The Park is named after the Manas River, also named after the serpent Goddess Manasa. It is also the tributary of the largest and the mightiest Brahmaputra. Coming to the North from Bhutan Hills, the dazzling water of the Manas runs through the heart of 500sq km, core area of Manas Park. More of all, the park lies on the international border with Bhutan and on the north it is bounded by the Royal Manas National Park in Bhutan and in the west by the buffer forest reserves.

What one can see inside the park
Well, the park is home to various species of wild animals as well as various species of birds and so there are lot many things one can see during the visit to the National Park. You will get to see the one horned rhinos, Elephant, Tiger, Pygmy hog, Rhesus Cat, Jungle Cat, the Large Indian Civet, Himalayan Black Bear, Wild Pigs, etc. Apart from animals the national park is also home to various species of birds. Somewhat around 450 species of birds are found inside the park among which some are endangered and some are commonly found. Manas has the largest population of endangered Bengal Florican as well as various species of birds among which some of the prominent ones are Serpents Eagles, Pelicans, Kalij Pheasants, Bee Eaters, Grey Hornbills, etc.

Well visiting the park truly leaves you with surprise as you get to enjoy the lovely view of the national park and its astonishing residents in the form of fauna and avi-fauna.

How to Reach
Located in North West of Assam, Manas National Park is accessible by three modes of transportation, by air, by train and by road.
By Air: Guwahati airport is the nearest airport and it is the most feasible transportation medium for those arriving to Manas by air.
By Road: Regular buses ply from Guwahati to Berpata, making it easier for tourists to access the national park by roadways.

By Rail: the nearest railhead for Manas National Park is at Barpeta Road. From here one can take taxi or bus to reach the park. The railhead is located at a distance of 44 kms from the park and more of all Barpeta railheads are well connected with all the major railhead of all the important cities and towns of India.
